ABOUT
Welcome to SHEleader@digital!
We nurture the feminine print in the world of technology and innovation.
SHEleader@digital is an annual international conference taking place in Sofia, Bulgaria that provides a platform for focused discussion on the women’s role in the digitally connected world in transformation we are living in. It aims to outline solutions for attracting more women and girls to take on professional and leadership roles in the ICT and digitally empowered economy. The Conference also examines how women’s authenticity and the application of female values contributes to the development of sustainable and balanced organizations with high potential and prosperous societies.
Context
The average percentage of women and girls in the ICT sector in the European Union is as little as 16.1%.
Bulgaria ranks first among the Member States with 27.7% and leads the list for female IT professionals with 30%, almost double the 16% average for the countries in the EU.
The automation is deepening the divide between male and female professionals in the digital industry as per McKinsey study.
Europe could generate an annual increase of EUR 16B if digital divide is overcome.
There are numerous ongoing initiatives on corporate, government and policy level but the progress is still dissatisfactory.
Our mission
SHEleader@digital brings together key female leaders from the business sector, non-profits and public institutions from across Europe to engage in a dialogue on how we can effectively address those challenges and more importantly, set the tone to act upon solving them.
With the first edition of SHEleader@digital in 2018 we focussed on how we can inspire and empower more women and girls in the Tech industry and built the foundations of what can become a strong movement and bring valuable change.
SHEleader@digital 2020 focusses on the area we need the most. We are inviting on the stage Women Engineers and Leaders from across Europe to share their stories, exchange learnings and ideas. We want to break the stereotypes by expanding our boundaries beyond the ordinary and show the various implementations of the title “Engineer” into the society today . Our key topics are Deep Tech, Digital Art, and Leadership.
Join us on September 17th 2020 for an extraordinary day at Music Jam and be part of the change.
We are happy to welcome you also on September 18th to participate in inspirational mindfulness workshops and in the Ideas fair where the floor is yours.
The Conference will be held under the official patronage of the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mrs. Mariya Gabriel.
